Volvo S90 comes to present the future direction of Volvo′s identity

[Kim, Song-Yi] S90, Volvo’s flagship model, suggests a new direction of Volvo’s design identity. With Volvo’s traditional diagonal emblem as a center, its head lamps have new LED daytime running lights called ‘Thor’s hammer’ that will be used for all Volvo’s automobiles released later. With all the features and three-dimensional grille, S90 ultimately has an innovative image.

A large and low image can be presented through lower position of the front grille and head lamps and softly being extended bonnet to the grille place. Overall, S90 emphasizes its face and volume to give a luxurious sense as a flagship model. Also new look of the thick shoulder line, Volvo’s tradition, has adopted.

In terms of the side, the proportion same with the rear-wheel drive sedan is the key. S90 is based on the front-wheel drive, but with its long wheel base and bonnet as well as with its short overhang, S90 presents the sense of dynamism. In terms of the rear body, a low positioned trunk lid and rear lamps that emphasize the full width bring sporty and classical image.
