SM6, its creative and unique charisma is the point

[Kim, Song-Yi] Over 11,000 units of Renault Samsung’s SM6 have been already pre-ordered in just last one month.
It took only 12 days since Renault Samsung started to display SM6 in its stores on last 17th, and 17 days of its official release. Also, as there were New Year holidays and weekends in Feb, this explosive pre-orders are obviously beyond Renault Samsung’s expectation.
The biggest reason of such result is because of its creative design.
SM6 was planned to follow CEO of Renault Group, Carlos Gon’s instruction to focus on D segment in global market, in 2010.
SM6 is also known as Talisman in European market. Almost 40 Renault Samsung engineers and Designers stayed in Renault headquarter located in France more than four years to invent SM6.

As a result, SM6 looks creative, unique and strong, unlike other recently released new cars which look similar.
It first reminds of a young man with nice suit. It gives its first impression with its refined, modern, balanced images.
Four character lines have been added for its hood wile considering both aeromechanical aspects and giving solider look.
Reversed trapezoidal shaped radiator grille shows how the future design of Renault Samsung’s automobiles is going to be. The brand emblem, which indicates 'the eye of typhoon', is located at the center of the grille. At the same time, SM6’s sharp LED headlamp and daytime running light strengthen SM6’s first impression.

Streamlined loop line makes its flank side more dynamic and sporty. Window lines become more luxurious with using chrome. Slightly thick chromes on the quarter glass are impressive.
Designers of SM6 try to emphasize car’s volume on front and back pander. A 19-inch alloy wheels in 245mm double width tires are used. Flakiness ratio has been changed to 40R. Renault Asia’s design team has mentioned that SM6’s tire platform also can handle with 20-inch wheels.
On the rear side, spoilers have been added on the trunk lid to enhance its safety during high-speed driving.
Its lamp line continued to the center of trunk seems to give slightly ‘exceed’ sense. On contrary, muffler and diffuser are designed to emphasize simple image. Trunk can hold 475L, which means that it can contain four golf bags at the same time.
SM6’s cabin is luxurious as the luxurious sense can be found from the instrument panel, dashboard, center fascia, and seats. Also, additional emotional touches can be found from head-up display, dashboard that can be changed into 5 different colors, a light system under the dashboard bottom line, 8.7 inch of large-sized S-LINK navigation systems.
Moreover, premium napa leather seats make the driving more comfortable. Head-rest has got the system that minimizes injury by collision. Both driver’s seat and passenger seat offers massage.

The cabin design of 1.6 TCe and 2.0 GDe are different. In terms of 1.6 TCe, high glossy are adopted for around center fascia and center console, while 2.0 GDe gets chrome and aluminum with light color leather materials. Customers would prefer 2.0 GDe design.
Eun-young Hwang, a director of Renualt Samsung promotional team, said, “SM6 is a premium mid-sized sedan developed to target D segment in the global market. Creative and charisma design is the attractive point.”
