Be ready to submit your design for Auto Design Award

[Kim, Song-Yi] ‘Auto Design Award 2016’ is going to receive entrants’ works from April 1 to May 10.

Auto Design Award Organizing Committee(ADAOC) is going to receive entrants’ works from April 1 to May 10 and announce winners on May 20.

There are three entries operated for Auto Design Award. Kid Entry is for elementary school students between 7 to 12 years old, Teenager Entry is for middle and high school students. Anyone over 18 including university, college and graduate school students can register for General Entry.

Under the theme of ‘Autonomous Car, the Future in Design’, entrants can submit their futuristic car design works through Auto Design Award official website(autodesignaward.com). The work should be consist of three images including front-quarter view, side view, and rear view sized 3000px*3000px of JPG file, and the work capacity should not over than 2MB.

10 works from General, 5 works from Teen, and 5 works from Kid entries will be selected as winners. All prize-winning works will be exhibited at ‘2016 Busan International Motor Show(BIMOS)’ at BEXCO Busan, Korea from June 2.

Overall cash prize is 14,200,000 won(Korean currency). In terms of General entry, 5,000,000 won will be given for one grand prize winner. 3,000,000 won of cash prize is for one honor award winner, and eight participation prize winners will receive 500,000 won per each. In terms of Teen entry winners, there is one grand prize winner who will receive 500,000 won. Also, one honor award winner will get 300,000 won, and three participation winners will receive 200,000 won per each. In terms of Kid entry, 300,000 won will be given for one grand prize winner, 200,000 won will be given for one honor award winner, and three participation winners will win 100,000 won of cash prize respectively.

Also, all winners will be invited to the automobile design seminar held on June 3 at 2016 BIMOS.

ADAOC will select another entrants’ works who win prizes and scholarship given by carmakers including Renault-Samsung, Infiniti, and the mayor of Busan, city of Korea.

The judging committee of Auto Design Award 2016 consists of professors, research companies, and current automobile designers from Korean domestic brands.

Dr. John(Young-ill) Kim who served as a chief designer and was a former president of design department of Hyundai Motors, is appointed as the head of judging panel of Auto Design Award. Also, Joo-wan Sung, a chief designer and general manager of Renault Design Asia, Keun-yeol Lee, a team manager of prior&exterior design team of Ssangyong Motors, Jung-yong Lee, a CEO of Saean Motors, Tae-sun Yoon, a marketing insight managing director from Consumer Insight, Eun-tae Kim, a general secretary and executive director from The Korean Society of Automotive Engineers will take charge of examiners.

From the academic world, Chul-ho Kim, a professor in the department of automobile engineering of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Sang Koo, a professor in the department of automobile transportation design of Kookmin University, Jong-min Cha, a professor in the department of transportation design of Hongik University, Bum-suk Lim, a professor of Art Center College of Design(ACCD), and Reinhart Butter, a professor emeritus in the department of industrial design of Ohio State University take charge of judges.

ADAOC said, “Auto Design Award is targeting all people in the world who love car design. ADAOC hopes entrants can realize their dreams of being a car designer through Auto Design Award 2016.”
