Auto Design Award 2018 Grand Prize winner suggests a mobility for artists

[Kim, Song-Yi] Minkyu Kim, a student from Chungang University, wins the grand prize in Auto Design Award 2018 with his design concept titled ‘Beauty begins at the fingertips: Moving Gallery for Digital Artists’.

The concept is a moving gallery itself, and it suggests a car designed to support artists. For off-road driving and riding easiness, front wheels are designed as a shape of ‘open wheel’, while there is a chair beside rear wheels. Therefore, when the driver activates ‘Portrait Mode’, a model can sit on the chair and the artist(driver) can draw a picture.

Other impressive thing is that there is a huge display, which makes the artist exhibit the works and do some painting performances.

“Artists always go and search for the best view for their works no matter how dangerous the place is. So I decided to design a car which can help those artists move more comfortably and safely, and help them focus solely on the works”, Kim explained.

“The concept shows and reflects the theme of Auto Design Award 2018 perfectly. Great creativity and fresh idea”, the judging panel of Auto Design Award said.
